A darkly beautiful tale drawing on the folklore of pre-Famine Ireland and the writings of Blake and Yeats, this is a scary, frank and extraordinary film about a young woman who’s considered 'odd’, who becomes fascinated by the shaman Scarf Michael, a man the villagers fear. He shows her how to use her power and the villager's fear to her advantage playing on their superstitious, barely Christian beliefs.
Thank you to Craig and Dennis at Deaf Crocodile Films for their support of our festival during the LA fires! Despite the extraordinary situation Craig and Dennis answered every email and sent on the film so the festival could have the opportunity to screen this Irish Horror Classic: it’s a rare screening and they are rare guys! We wish you both all the best going forward as LA rebuilds.
