A Quiet Love

genres:

A Quiet Love is an intimate feature documentary told through Irish Sign Language, following three Deaf couples whose relationships endure across history, family, and profound personal choice. Their stories include a mixed-religion couple whose 50-year love survived The Troubles, a same-sex couple navigating parenthood with Deaf and hearing children, and a Deaf boxer and his hearing partner confronting a life-altering decision that could cost him the sound of his family’s voices. Together, these cinematic love letters explore the complexities of Deaf relationships and celebrate enduring love, community, and resilience. Through expressive signing, archival material, and a stylised soundscape that challenges conventional perceptions of sound, the film offers an immersive portrait of connection beyond words.
