Brilliant young marine biology student Siobhán (Hermione Corfield) has just signed on for some real-life experiences aboard the ragged fishing trawler, Niamh Cinn Oir, where she finds herself miserably at odds with the seasoned and close-knit crew. But out in the deep Atlantic, in the restricted waters of the Irish Sea, the ship hits an unseen object, and strange creatures, appearing at first to be barnacles, attach themselves to the ship and a blue goo begins to emanate into the waters. At first Siobhan attempts to logically de-mystify the situation, but as the mysterious bio-luminescent force infiltrates the vessel and the crew begins to succumb to the strange infection, Siobhán must overcome her alienation and win the crew’s trust before everyone is lost.
