22nd Chicago Irish Film Festival Goes Virtual

By Patrick McDonald, Editor, Film Writer, HollywoodChicago.com

CHICAGO – There’s not a better way to kick off March and St. Patrick’s Day month than the 22nd edition of the Chicago Irish Film Festival, presented this year in a virtual and online format. With five feature films, five feature documentaries, U.S. premieres in both those genres and more, it’s a ticket to exciting cinema and Irish heritage. Start the journey by clicking here.

Among the U.S. premieres that Patrick McDonald of HollywoodChicago.com previewed includes Sam Uhlemann’s family drama “The Edge of Darkness” (“ … the film rightly points out that until the dirty laundry is thrown into the wash the stains just keep spreading”), Phil Sheerin’s psychological triller and directorial debut “The Winter Lake” (“… has shades of Alfred Hitchcock … ”), and the docu-drama “Violet Gibson – The Irish Woman Who Shot Mussolini” (“… a fascinating examination of how life can turn on a dime, based on how consciousness drives our beliefs.”), directed by Barrie Dowdall and Kevin de la Isla O’Neill.
